Haley opposes key computer chips invoice: ‘We really don’t require to be China to beat China’

Initial ON FOX: Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is opposing a major bipartisan bill aimed at boosting the U.S. semiconductor marketplace, arguing that the way to defeat China is as a result of innovation — and not via “company handouts.”

“We never require to be China to conquer China,” Haley reported in a statement to Fox Information Electronic. 

The invoice, aimed at boosting the U.S. semiconductor field to give the U.S. the aggressive edge more than China, cleared a procedural vote in the Senate this week with 16 Republican votes.

The bill involves $52 billion in funding for the semiconductor business, but has developed to involve provisions that include things like study, mental assets and other competitiveness-related provisions — that means the cost tag could move $200 billion.

“And guess what? They can keep accomplishing business in China,” he explained. “If China invades Taiwan they can keep doing company just as they are suitable now in China. Seems like a professional-China bill, not an anti-China monthly bill to me.”

The Biden administration, in the meantime, has pushed hard for the passage of the invoice. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo mentioned not too long ago that the problem was a “grave countrywide safety risk.”

“If you really don’t get this completed by August 4 there is irreparable damage to the United States overall economy and the United States military operations. So you have to at the very least get this done now,” she instructed Reuters.
